
Product Expert & Business FounderRobert McMath, a widely regarded authority on historical consumer product introductions and today's product trends, conceived and developed the New Products Showcase & Learning Center in Ithaca, New York, in the late 1980s. The Arbor Strategy Group (ASG) acquired McMath's 70,000-item consumer product collection in 2001 and merged it with their strategy consulting practice, forming NewProductWorks. McMath has a long and successful career in consumer product marketing. He founded Marketing Intelligence Service (MIS) more than 30 years ago and published Product Alert, Lookout and International Product Alert, all of which track and profile new product introductions for the grocery industry. He developed the Innovation Index, a national index to determine the originality of new products. MIS was sold to Ogilvy & Mather in the early 1980s. In 1998 Red River Press published McMath's book, "What Were They Thinking? Marketing Lessons I've Learned from over 80,000 New-Product Innovations and Idiocies." He has appeared on several network television programs including The David Letterman Show and has been interviewed on every major network McMath is a columnist for BrandPackaging, Brand Marketing, and Stagnito's New Product Report. He also contributes to Japan's marketing publications, Nikkei and Senden Kaigi, among others. A marketing and business administration graduate of Johns Hopkins University, McMath has served as an adjunct professor of marketing at Ithaca College and is a frequent speaker on consumer trends throughout the U.S and abroad. |
